China Minmetals Corporation 2025-02-26
At the start of 2025, China Minmetals set clear goals and worked with full determination, embracing the mindset that "starting strong means pushing forward from the very beginning". Its employees have been implementing all tasks with high efficiency and ensuring smooth production and operations under an overall plan. Notably, the "good start" practices of several affiliated enterprises under its umbrella have attracted attention from mainstream media. For example, the high-quality resumption of work and production at Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co., Ltd. was highlighted on CCTV's Xinwen Lianbo and Zhaowen Tianxia programs.
On February 15, CCTV's Xinwen Lianbo and Zhaowen Tianxia featured segments titled "Striving for Success in the New Year" and "Hard Work Brings Spring Early, and Workers Are Energized for the New Year". In these segments, the focus was placed on the resumption of work and production at Zhuzhou (in Hunan Province), home to China's largest cemented carbide industry cluster. According to the programs, Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Minmetals has updated 3 green and intelligent production lines for the new year, and started to use 21 new automated robotic arms. Liu Guoqiang, General Manager of the Drilling Bit Alloy Division at Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co., Ltd., said in an interview, "Previously, we used gear-driven machines that made a lot of noise. Now, with electrically driven machines, greater precision and higher efficiency are achieved. In the same amount of time, we can produce more products and generate more revenue."
Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co., Ltd., known as "the cradle of China's cemented carbide industry", primarily produces mining and drilling tools for mines and oilfields, hard materials, and rare metal powder products. These products are widely used in sectors such as aviation, metallurgy, machinery, geology, coal, petroleum, chemicals, electronics, and textiles.
On February 13, Tianxia Caijing, a CCTV's program, aired a special on the "Acceleration of Work Resumption", focusing on the post-Spring Festival resumption of work and production at the Jiangkou-Longgang Expressway Project in Chongqing, managed by China Minmetals' subsidiary, China 19th Metallurgical Corporation ("MCC19" for short). The report highlighted that, as soon as the Spring Festival ended, the sound of firecrackers signaling the resumption of work and production was heard early at the construction site. The Jiangkou-Longgang Expressway spans 70 km and features 37 bridges and 17 tunnels, with the bridge-to-tunnel ratio reaching 76.5%. To ensure that the expressway opens to traffic by the second half of this year, all employees of China Minmetals returned to their posts immediately after the holiday.
In the Jiangkou-Longgang Expressway Project (in Chongqing), the section managed by MCC19 covers 36.4 km, including 21 bridges, 10 tunnels, and 4 interchanges. The construction faces several challenges, including deep ditches, steep slopes, risky byways, high mountains, long tunnels, geological challenges, many bridges, high columns, bridging of a vast gap, deep cuttings, hazardous side slopes. Once completed, the expressway will greatly improve the traffic patterns in the northeastern Three Gorges Reservoir Area in Chongqing. The travel time from Yunyang County to the Longgang Scenic Area will be reduced from two hours to just 40 minutes, significantly facilitating local residents' travel and boosting the region's economic and social development.
Earlier, during the Spring Festival when families across China were reunited, China Minmetals' subsidiary, China MCC5 Group CORP.LTD., was also busy with construction projects across multiple sites. Its workers continued to speed up production, displaying their determination and enthusiasm for the new year. Their dedication to duty has garnered widespread attention from major media outlets, including CCTV and People's Daily.
