On the afternoon of February 25, 2025, Chen Dexin, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, met with Wang Weidong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Xining Municipal Committee. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on strengthening cooperation between central state-owned enterprises and local governments. The meeting was also attended by Nan Haiyan and Zhang Junlu, both leaders from Xining City, and Zhu Kebing, a leader from China Minmetals. 

Chen Dexin welcomed the visit of Wang Weidong and his delegation, and expressed gratitude to Qinghai Province and Xining City for their sustained support to China Minmetals' business development. He said that since its founding in 1950, China Minmetals had remained committed to its original mission of "serving and reinvigorating the country through the metals and minerals industry". He noted that China Minmetals had successfully evolved from its early beginnings as a foreign trade enterprise into a powerhouse with global competitiveness in the metals and minerals industry, with its scope of business covering metals & minerals, metallurgical construction, high-tech industry, trade & logistics, and finance & real estate. Besides, with a strong integrated advantage across the whole industry chain in the metals and minerals industry, the company operates 39 mines both domestically and internationally. It has achieved a strong start in the first month of 2025, with year-on-year growth in both revenue and total profit while balancing production & operation with Party building initiatives. Following General Secretary Xi Jinping's directive to accelerate the development of a world-class salt lake industrial base, the company has accelerated the organization, design and implementation of China Salt Lake Group since its official launch on February 8. Efforts are underway to lay the groundwork for a world-class salt lake industrial base characterized by resource abundance, product excellence, brand superiority, innovative leadership, modern governance, and harmonious & stable relationships. Chen hoped to strengthen communication by establishing a special work team mechanism, break down and implement measures, and deepen collaboration in salt lake resource development, integration of industry and finance, and engineering projects, for the purpose of jointly advancing the high-quality socio-economic development of Qinghai Province and Xining City. 

Wang Weidong thanked China Minmetals for its long-term strong support to Qinghai Province and Xining City, and introduced the basic status of Xining. He said that for Qinghai Province, Xining City, and China Minmetals, their joint mission is to accelerate the construction of a world-class salt lake industrial base. Since Xining has unique advantages in industrial innovation incubation and deep extension of the industrial chain, it was hoped that both sides can strengthen communication, improve cooperation mechanisms, and further expand cooperation space on the development and utilization of salt lake resources on the basis of existing good cooperation, so as to achieve win-win cooperation. In this respect, Xining will provide high-quality services with the most comprehensive policy support and the best guarantee measures.
